Trail
Dawson Butte Open Space and Trail
A Douglas County trail system of 7.7 miles: a 5-mile loop through forest and meadow plus horse paths with more than 60 jumps. Hiking, riding, biking and snowshoeing; leashed dogs; no water.
Douglas County’s Dawson Butte trail follows the natural contours of the land through forest and meadow, and its mix of shade and sun keeps it in use all year. Hikers, riders, mountain bikers and snowshoers share the 5-mile loop; another 2.7 miles of horse paths carry more than 60 jumps. There is a restroom and an unpaved lot for cars and up to 20 horse trailers, but no water, and elk, bears and mountain lions live on the land.
